You are here: HOMECultural Immersion Travel

I am able to custom design an Orkney Art Adventure to suit your needs. From 2005-2009, I held summer week-long travel art workshops with instruction in the Provincetown, watercolour white line woodprint technique on Orkney for North Americans. Now that I am a resident in Stromness, Orkney, I am even better able to support your travel wonders.

With advance discussions held by phone, email or SKYPE, I can organise a schedule to suit your interests with time imbedded for individual or small group instruction in the Provincetown watercolour white-line woodcut.

Orkney is not your typical tourist and artist destination. It is a combination of much history and its impact on the landscape and people. Your artwork will not simply be learning a type of printmaking, but will be fuelled by the interactions you have with Orkney’s history its land, sky, and the people who are part of it all. Your visit will be one that immerses you in the culture of this unique island. Cultural immersion will inspire your art.

Immersion means that I will try to arrange for you to meet with local people to hear about their stories of life and art on Orkney. Visits to the sites that you want to see will be planned. Opportunities that arise at the time of your visits like a concert or a dance will become part of your agenda. Your interests will be met as best as possible and they will be integrated into the life of the community here.

Pricing will be based on your time of visit, your choice of lodging, your interests and thus tour and transport choice. I will orchestrate your adventure by using numerous highly qualified experts on the island.

Please note the excavation at the Ness of Brodgar as seen in the August 2014 issue of the NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC is only open during July and August. See www.nessofbrodgar.com for upcoming dates.
